CHOOSING YOUR VAN
Updated: Jan 10, 2020
I struggled with this. I looked for a long time trying to find the right van. I went and looked at plenty. One on a farm somewhere in the middle of nowhere upstate NY. I wasn't sure I was going to make it out alive on that one.
Finally I lucked out. I drove by an old friends house when I was visiting home. I saw that there was a shiny new sprinter van in the driveway. Yea I wish I had that one. There was also an older silver one. That one would eventually be mine one day. Its not a high roof which is the only regret I have but I wasn't waiting around any longer for the perfect one to come along.
I think the most important aspect of picking your van is your budget. If you have the money, why not buy a brand new sprinter high top? Just make sure that you still have money after buying the van to convert it and then actually use it to travel.
Your best bet is scour craigslist and other buy/sell websites as well as talk to everyone you can about how you are looking to buy one. You never know who might lead you to your van. Maybe you will drive down the street one day and bam, there it is. Keep looking. It's worth it.
